FACTORS TO CONSIDER: There are plenty of whitetail deer around our property all year long. But there are some factors that influence whether or not they are likely to come out in the open during daylight. They seem to come out much more in November than December. They do not come out if it is windy. They come out more in the daytime if the sky is dark at night ... so if there is a full moon and no cloud cover, they will probably eat at night and hide in the daytime ... even if there is just a halfmoon but it shines most of the night and is high overhead it can provide a lot of light for the deer. They love acorns, so after the acorns have fallen but before the first frost, they will eat acorns more than the corn we set out. After a hard freeze, the acorns are no good anymore, and they will come out to eat the corn from the feeders more. If you are a smoker, the deer may smell the odor of tobacco or smoke.
ABOUT YOUR GUNS: Some of our hunters last year shot and missed deer because their rifles were not sighted correctly. Please sight your rifle before you arrive. You may shoot only when you are trying to kill a deer. We do not allow target shooting or practice shooting or sighting, because we do not want to scare off the deer. Here are the approximate distances from the blinds to the feeders:
Tract "D" on the other side of the creek: 40 yards Tract "D" in the field: 150 yards Tract "A" north field: 150 yards Tract "A" south field: 150 yards
